ALOHA AIRLINES TO STOP FLYING ON MONDAY, MARCH 31st
[03.30.08] -- Your AFA Officers were advised via conference call with the company this morning that Aloha will stop its passenger flying on Monday, March 31st. Citing the inability to attract a new investor at this time, CEO David Banmiller said “We have no choice at this point in time but to stop the passenger operation.”
All inter-island flights will operate as scheduled on Monday. All ETOPS flights will return to HI as scheduled on Monday. ETOPS flights bound for the mainland will depart on Sunday but no ETOPS flights will depart for the mainland on Monday. ETOPS crews that depart today (Sunday) will return home, with “must-ride” positive space authorization, on Monday. It is vitally important that every person who is scheduled to come to work does so. We must not abandon our responsibilities to our passengers and or co-workers at this very difficult time.
We will keep you updated as any new information becomes available. The phone tree will be activated for time-sensitive news. Please plan to attend the meetings on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. And please keep checking back here for continued updates.
